COP27 and our act in climate change

COP27: the 27th Conference The UN Climate Change Conference, including 195 countries, was concluded on 20 November in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt - the main positive decision was to establish and operationalise a fund to compensate vulnerable nations for ‘loss and damage’ from climate-induced disasters, especially given that US, European countries and China have the biggest role in the cause of climate crisis, yet it is the more underdeveloped and vulnerable countries facing the immediate damages of it.

The UN Secretary-General welcomed the decision, calling it “an important step towards justice.” At the same time, bold, fast, wide range of actions including reducing emissions by governments and businesses are still at the highest importance.

Meanwhile, it is critical for citizens, for all of us, to understand the importance and consequences of climate change and take action in our everyday lives. Some of the things we can do are:

  • Save energy

  • Walk, bike, take public transport

  • Eat more vegetables

  • Consider your travel

  • Throw away less food

  • Reduce, reuse, repair, recycle

  • Make your money count towards positive impact

  • Change your home's source of energy

  • Switch to electric car if/when economically possible

  • Be an example, Speak up

This is about the longevity of our planet and the human life on it - which means our home and loved ones.
